The New House
No really, we drew our floor plan on a napkin, then it changed a lot. My dad, along with an architect, helped to create our dream home.
After living in our Dundee home for 5 years, it was time for a change – a home of our own!
We knew the neighborhood we wanted to live in, problem was… there were no lots available and our ultimate goal/dream was to have my dad (who is a contractor) build our house for us.
I found a 2-bedroom house for sale in the perfect spot in the neighborhood we loved, so my dad and I decided to go drive by and take a look. As fate would have it, the owner of the house was outside and saw us looking, he asked if we wanted to come in and take a look. So, we did! This was a reeeeeal fixer upper and to clarify, the owner of the house had originally bought it as a complete remodel project, we toured the house and the lot and 10 minutes later I called Michael to tell him that we had to put an offer on the house immediately.
A few days later it was ours and we were freaking out. Freaking out in the best way because now we had to get our house on the market and sell it, but it was the best decision ever. Our house sold, just like we knew it would, gorgeous 1920’s home in the heart of our town and our new home was in the works.
After crunching some numbers and looking at the size our new house’s lot, we decided to go ahead and bulldoze the house. A series of metal music, sledgehammers and face masks followed, by more and more dreaming of the built from ground up house that we were going to create. Here we are, months later and our house is thriving! With an after holidays finish date in sight and daily design decisions flowing, the Schneider house is coming to existence and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Stick around, it’s about to get really home design-y up in here.
These two dues are AMAZING at what they do.
