August & Allergies
I have a love/dislike relationship with August. This month is full of new beginnings and seasonal shift, which I love, but also with August comes my dreaded allergy season. And my least favorite of pollens... Ragweed. Nebraska is basically a giant field of this stuff right now and my body despises it. For years and years I struggled to find a solution to the chronic sore throat, irritated/dry mouth, stuffed nose, itchy and blurred vision, the exhaustion: it’s all seasonal allergies. What helped me a lot? Zyrtec. My tried and true. But I actually take allergy medicine year round, it just can’t keep up with ragweed season. So what do I use to help most August-October? (Yeah it lasts THAT long) .
THE TRIO. THE MECA. THE GOLDEN 3.
3 drops Peppermint : Headache reliever, airway cleaner, energy booster, relieves blocked sinuses which aids in reductions of phlegm
3 drops Lavender: Calming, cleansing, anti inflammatory, can reduce swelling in airways, calms nervous system
3 drops Lemon: Cleansing, immunity enhancer, anti inflammatory
And woah allergy season game changer.
Some other tips I’ve acquired from doctors throughout the years: Wash your pets more around allergy season. Blow your nose at least once a day or at the end of the day to clear airways. Stay indoors more (sadly). Clean sheets more. Absolutely shower before bed! (This gets alllll the pollen off of your body, hair, eyelashes). Okay hopefully this was helpful to At least one Midwest allergy sufferer! I know it stinks! .
